Nautic Light is a polyester adhesive for professional use in construction of yachts, boats, kayaks, caravans and other laminate structures. It is most of all designated for sandwich core bonding – fixing polyurethane foams or PVC for polyester or epoxy laminates. It may be used for joining other elements made, inter alia, with wood, plywood, glass fiber, but in only in places free from heavy mechanical loads or additionally reinforced with laminates.
The application of special fillers allowed for obtaining a very low specific gravity (ca.0,6g/cm³), and reduction of shrinkage during hardening below 1%.
Nautic Light appears in two versions Nautic Light 15, Nautic Light 30, differing by gelling time (15 and 30 minutes, respectively) and the mechanical properties.
The surfaces used:
- polyester laminates,
- epoxy laminates,
- plywood,
- wood,
- rigid polyurethane foams and PVC.
Caution: Do not apply the adhesive directly on the single-component acrylic and cellulose nitrate products.
Preparation of the surface:
- the polyester and epoxy laminates should be degreased, dry sanded P80 – P120 and degreased again with a Silicone Remover,
- dry sand plywood, wood P80 – P120 and then clean of the dust.
Mixing proportions:
NAUTIC LIGHT – 100 parts by weight,
The hardener – 1 to 2 parts by weight.
Supplementary products:
The hardener – methyl, ethyl, ketone peroxide (e.g. METOX 50).
Potlife from the moment of mixing with the hardener:
NAUTIC LIGHT 15: from 10 to 20 min. in the temp. 20°C with 2% of the hardener.
NAUTIC LIGHT 30: from 30 to 40 min. in the temp. 20°C with 2% of the hardener.
Hardening time:
NAUTIC FIBER 15: from 1.5 to 2 hours in the temperature 20° with 2% of the hardener.
NAUTIC FIBER 30: from 2 to 3 hours in the temperature 20°C with 2% of the hardener.
Volume shrinkage:
max. 1%.
Coverable by:
Putty finish, spray applied polyester filler, acrylic primers.
Principles of operation:
Mix the components thoroughly, observing the required quantities of the hardener. Apply a coat of thickness not exceeding 10 mm, using a putty knife. The viscosity of the hardened surface improves the adherence of the subsequent coats applied and it may be removed, if necessary, by washing with a cellulose nitrate dissolvent. The minimum application temperature is +10°C.
