Purpose:

Designated for painting wooden surfaces, such as: boards, parquets, mosaics, industrial floors, “cubes” inlaid parquet floors, heated floors.

Preparation of the surface:

the surface should be sanded with the use of a drum sander with sandpaper of 36 to 100 graining. The slots and scratches should be filled with a skim coat and then sanded with a drum sander with sandpaper of 100 graining and disk sander with 100-120 net. The surface designated for varnishing must be dry, free from dust and other dirt. Then, depending on the assumed varnishing system, the primer or directly the surface varnish should be applied.

Application conditions:

The temperature of the room, floor and varnish should be 17-25°C
The relative air humidity 50-70%

Recommended varnishing systems:

A    1  coat of Water Based Primer Varnish
2-3 coats of Water Based Surface Varnish 1K

B    2 coats of Water Based Primer Varnish - Gel
2-3 coats of Water Based Surface Varnish 1K

C    1 coat of Dissolvent Primer Varnish
2-3 coats of Water Based Surface Varnish 1K

D    3-4 coats of Water Based Surface Varnish 1K

       - recommended for heavy loaded surfaces and exotic wood (after testing).

Not recommended for parquet panels and floor heating.

Principles of operation:

Shake the varnish energetically, in order to obtain a homogeneous mixture. Apply with the use of a roller for water based floor varnished. Apply evenly, avoid local varnish accumulation. The varnish strips applied should overlap. Put 2-3 layers of varnish.

After application of the first coat, wait at least 4-6 hours befor applying the next one. The time between the application of the subsequent layers should not exceed 24 hours (matt the floor after expiration of such period of time). Prior to applying the last coat of varnish, matt the varnished surface by means of disk sander with sandpaper (net) with 120 or finer graining. After matting, the base should be thoroughly cleaned of dust. The varnish is entirely hardened after 10-14 days, and may be fully used after such period of time only, i.e. covered with carpets, maintained. .

In case of varnishing sorts of wood causing problems, e.g. beech, maple, ash, exotic wood, varnish should be applied with a roller instead of a putty knife.

In case of renovation of old varnish coats, it is recommended to carry out the adherence test. A small surface should be sanded with sandpaper of 120-150 graining or 100-120 net, apply the varnish and leave for a few days for hardening. Check the varnish adherence by means of a coin (rub the coin’s edge hard against the varnish). If the adherence is good, matt the entire surface with a 100 net and apply one or two coats of varnish.
